Mochi Workshop – Experience the Art of Japanese Sweets for Yourself
Mochis are among Japan's finest delicacies – delicate, elastic, and surprisingly versatile. In this workshop, you will learn how to make these special rice cakes yourself and master their different textures and preparation methods.
Content
You will prepare three classic and seasonal mochi variations:
- Classic Adzuki Mochi
- Strawberry Matcha Mochi
- Sakura Mochi
You will learn three different techniques:
- the traditional preparation
- the modern, time-saving method with rice flour
- pan-frying for a special texture
Mochi & Matcha
Matcha preparation is an integral part of the workshop: Together, you will prepare high-quality Matcha and enjoy it with your freshly made mochis – just as intended in Japanese tea culture.
As a special extra, after the workshop, you will receive a one-time 10% discount at the Shinkoko Teahouse.
Group Size
The workshop is deliberately limited to a maximum of 9 participants. This creates a calm, focused atmosphere and enough space for individual questions – for an intensive, almost 1:1 supervised learning experience.

About Marina Iordanidis-Kato
Mochi expert with many years of experience at the renowned Viennese teahouse "Cha No Ma". Numerous stays and courses in Japan as well as her work for selected Japanese restaurants in Vienna shape her approach to authentic mochi production.
About Shinkoko
Shinko and Koryu, two Austrian Zen priests, run the teahouse and import high-quality, fresh Matcha directly from Japan. Their focus is on authentic tea culture and carefully selected products.
