For small and precise cutting tasks
Ranmaru is a compact petty knife with a 13 cm blade. Its handy size makes it ideal for tasks where a large chef's knife would be too cumbersome – such as peeling and cutting fruit and vegetables, cleaning small ingredients, or for fine preparation work.
Weighing only about 101 g, the knife feels light in the hand and allows for particularly controlled guidance.
69 layers of Damascus steel with a VG10 core
The blade consists of 69 layers of Damascus steel and features a core made of VG10 steel. This multi-layered construction creates the characteristic wave-like pattern of Damascus steel and combines the hard core cutting layer with the surrounding layers of steel.
The double-sided grind makes the Ranmaru a versatile knife for the daily kitchen. A black laminated wood handle complements the clear, understated design.
Inspired by Mori Ranmaru
The name Ranmaru is a tribute to Mori Ranmaru (森 蘭丸), a young samurai and close retainer of Oda Nobunaga. Together with our larger Nobunaga knife, it forms a small, historically inspired family.
