A tea for the gods: The legendary Izumo Taisha Sencha

24 g / 8 tea bags

In Izumo, home of what is probably the oldest Shinto temple in Japan , an extraordinary event takes place every year: all 8 million Kami (gods) gather here to discuss the fate of people. Rumor has it that they use the meeting to agree who will marry whom in the coming year. These special guests are of course served special tea: our Izumo Taisha Sencha .

Taste between heaven and earth

The Izumo Taisha Shrine Tea is a pleasantly sweet Sencha with a bright green color . It combines light, fruity aromas with an unobtrusive umami taste . It is earthy and light and airy at the same time. This is no coincidence, as “Izumo” literally means “clouds coming out”. The god couple Susanoo and Kushinadahime built a palace here that is surrounded by a cloud fence.

Okuninushi-no-okami, the god to whom the Izumo Shrine is dedicated, is responsible for all kinds of human relationships , from romantic love to business relationships. This makes our Izumo Taisha Sencha the ideal gift or the right choice for a shared moment of enjoyment. We offer it as a loose tea and in a practical, compostable pyramid tea bag .

Preparation (our recommendation)

  • 1 tea bag
  • 300 ml water, 70 degrees
  • 2 minutes brewing time

Tea is a personal thing. Here is our suggested preparation, but feel free to experiment with different amounts and temperatures.
