For small and precise cutting tasks
Ranmaru is a compact petty knife with a 13 cm blade. Its handy size makes it ideal for tasks where a large chef's knife would be too unwieldy – such as peeling and cutting fruits and vegetables, cleaning small ingredients, or delicate preparation work.
Weighing only about 101 g, the knife lies lightly in the hand and allows for particularly controlled handling.
69 layers of Damascus steel with VG10 core
The blade consists of 69 layers of Damascus steel and has a core of VG10 steel. The multi-layered construction creates the characteristic, wavy pattern of Damascus steel and connects the hard cutting layer inside with the surrounding steel layers.
The double-edged grind makes Ranmaru a versatile knife for everyday kitchen use. A black pakkawood handle complements the clean, understated design.
Inspired by Mori Ranmaru
The name Ranmaru refers to Mori Ranmaru (森 蘭丸), a young samurai and close retainer of Oda Nobunaga. Thus, the knife, together with our larger Nobunaga, forms a small historically inspired family.
