Cha Zen Ichimi (茶禅一味) – "Zen and Tea are One" describes the close connection between Japanese tea culture and Zen Buddhism.
During this premium matcha tasting at the Shinkoko Teahouse in Vienna, ordained Sōtō Zen priests Shinko and/or Koryu will guide you through the world of matcha and Zen.
You will taste 4-6 selected premium matchas from Japan, accompanied by homemade mochi of your choice and 2 additional beverages. You will learn more about matcha, its traditional preparation, and its centuries-old connection to Zen.
The Zen monk Eisai (1141–1215) played an important role in the spread of tea drinking in Japan. Later Japanese tea culture was also strongly influenced by Zen.
