The author
Maori Murota was born and raised in Tokyo. At seventeen, she left Japan to live in New York and also spent some time in Indonesia. In 2003, she settled in Paris, where she worked as a stylist before switching from the fashion world to gastronomy in 2009. A self-taught chef, Maori became head chef at the Parisian restaurants Düo and Bento at La Conserverie. Today, she works as an event caterer and private chef and also teaches classes in authentic Japanese home cooking.
