At the international Monde Selection in Brussels , where over 80 experts honor exquisite foods from all over the world, this Sencha has won the gold award for 13 years in a row - from 2011 to 2024. We can understand that well, it is also one of our absolute favorite varieties. The name says it all: "Mi-shi-ro", "beauty that rises like gentle mist and inner desires".
This full-bodied Sencha enchants with its slightly astringent taste , reminiscent of fresh lamb's lettuce . The fine balance of sour and earthy notes makes it a perfectly rounded blend. The secret lies in the special steaming method used directly after harvest. "Monde Mishiro" is a so-called Fukamushi tea, which is steamed for a particularly long time. This method results in a more intense taste and a deeper, bright green color. The steaming process causes the leaves to break down more easily, resulting in a cloudier infusion and enhancing the characteristic rich taste and full aroma. Compared to conventional Sencha, Fukamushi is characterized by its rich umami note and less bitterness.
We offer Monde Mishiro as loose tea and in the practical tea bag variant.
hot variant
- 300 ml water (70 degrees)
- 4-6 g (3 tsp) tea
- 1-2 minutes brewing time
Cold Brew
- 300 ml water, ice cold
- 6-8 g (4 tsp) tea
- After five minutes of brewing time, serve in a glass with ice cubes
Making tea is a personal matter. We recommend a method but encourage you to experiment with amounts and temperature.
