At the international Monde Selection in Brussels , where over 80 experts award prizes to exquisite foods from around the world, this Sencha won the gold award 13 years in a row – from 2011 to 2023. We can easily understand why; it's one of our absolute favorites, too. The name says it all: “Mi-shi-ro”, “beauty that rises like gentle mist and inner desires”.
This full-bodied Sencha enchants with its slightly astringent flavor , reminiscent of fresh lamb's lettuce . The delicate balance of acidic and earthy notes makes it a perfectly rounded blend. The secret lies in the special steaming method used immediately after harvesting. "Monde Mishiro" is a so-called Fukamushi tea, which is steamed for an exceptionally long time. This method results in a more intense flavor and a deeper, vibrant green color. The steaming process causes the leaves to break down more easily, leading to a cloudier infusion and enhancing the characteristic rich flavor and full aroma. Compared to conventional Sencha, Fukamushi is distinguished by its rich umami notes and lower bitterness.
We offer Monde Mishiro as loose tea and in the convenient tea bag version.
